Our Story

Welcome to our blog! Here's the quick and dirty about us:

Chad and I met on our first day of college at Utah State University. We started studying together, since we were in the same math class and lived in the same apartment building. But, those late-night study sessions quickly turned into excuses to hang out together. And that's how our story began. After two years of dating, we tied the knot on August 17, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We currently live in Tucson, Arizona. We moved here after living in South Florida for five years, where Chad graduated from medical school and completed his internship year of residency. He is now working for the University of Arizona completing a three-year anesthesiology residency. I was fortunate enough to keep my job from Florida and now work remotely from home. I am the manager of advertising and communications for the business school at Nova Southeastern University.

And--most importantly--Chad and I are thrilled to be parents! Our little angel Reece was born on Jan. 26, 2010 and our handsome little Jace was born on June 30, 2011. We are so blessed to be the mom and dad of such darling and sweet kids.

The Rains Came Down, and the Floods Came Up

As you know, Florida is notorious for heavy rains. Well, unfortunately those heavy rains don't mesh well with leaky walls.

For about a year, our condo has had cracks in the exterior walls. So, our apartment would flood every time it rained really hard. So much fun! We'd go through a process of drying out our rugs and soaking up water with towels once every few weeks...depending on how rainy it was.

Well, apparently our house could only take so much water damage before it gave in. The last time it rained (about 2 1/2 weeks ago), the water managed to leak all the way under our tile and cause it to warp. Then, when the water dried our tile got all brittle and cracked...and warped even more! So, we had a little mountain of cracked tile in our dinning room. :-)

The major problem is that our condo association is responsible for fixing the cracks in our building, and until they do that we are stuck soaking up water every time it rains. And unfortunately, we now have a huge mess because of our association's negligence. So, now our association gets to fix our exterior walls and our floor!! Since our association is run by a board of elderly folks (no offense against old people), things never get done very quickly or efficiently. So, who knows how long we'll be stuck living with a ruined floor. I have a feeling it's going to be several more weeks...UGH!!!

Below are are a few pictures...starting with the warped floor, then the cracks, then the tile removal, and finally what it looks like now. Chad ripped out all of the cracked tile because it was a mess and now we have a big slab of cement for our dinning room floor. I'm trying really hard not to freak out about it...but as you know, my OCD is really hard to control. :-)

Oh Deb.. that stinks! Stupid condo association people! Man... I hope they get on that QUICK! How are your walls? Hopefully they aren't saturated with water too!

Wow! I am so sorry! That looks like one BIG mess. Don't you just love waiting on condo association people to get things done.

Wow...that really sucks. I guess Monica's vinegar stains aren't as big of a deal in comparison???? ;-)
