Our Story

Welcome to our blog! Here's the quick and dirty about us:

Chad and I met on our first day of college at Utah State University. We started studying together, since we were in the same math class and lived in the same apartment building. But, those late-night study sessions quickly turned into excuses to hang out together. And that's how our story began. After two years of dating, we tied the knot on August 17, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We currently live in Tucson, Arizona. We moved here after living in South Florida for five years, where Chad graduated from medical school and completed his internship year of residency. He is now working for the University of Arizona completing a three-year anesthesiology residency. I was fortunate enough to keep my job from Florida and now work remotely from home. I am the manager of advertising and communications for the business school at Nova Southeastern University.

And--most importantly--Chad and I are thrilled to be parents! Our little angel Reece was born on Jan. 26, 2010 and our handsome little Jace was born on June 30, 2011. We are so blessed to be the mom and dad of such darling and sweet kids.

sPoNtAnEiTy!!

At about noon on Friday, Chad and I decided to be spontaneous and take a weekend trip to Puerto Rico. Within three hours, we were packed and flying on a plane! No hotel or rental car reservations...not even a map! We had no idea what we were going to do, but decided it would be fun and we could figure out the details when we got there.

Side Note: Stuff like this is good for me...because I typically plan out my life to the minute. So, being spontaneous was a refreshing change. Also, this little trip was another example of how Chad and I balance each other out; Chad is creative and comes up with crazy ideas, but I am the one who has the nerve and has to convince him to actually do the crazy stuff. So I guess that means we're a good team...right?!? ha ha

Despite our lack of preparation, we had a blast and did tons of fun stuff. We packed in the following into our one-day trip: a hike through the rain forest, swimming in a waterfall, touring a fortress, site seeing in the city, and a bioluminescent kayak tour through mangroves! Whew...it was exhausting! But it was AwEsOmE!!

(Sorry...I uploaded the images in reverse. So it starts at the end of the day and works forward!)

Bioluminescent Kayaking:
This was so cool...there were little organisms in the water that reacted to disturbances in the water. So, they would light up when ever we put our paddles or hands in the water. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen happen in nature! Of course, you couldn't capture it on camera because the flash would over-power the bioluminescent lights in the water. One of those things you just have to experience and see for yourself!

The Fort:

San Juan, Puerto Rico:

Swimming in the Waterfall:
There was a pool at the bottom of this waterfall that we swam in. The water was really cold at first, but kind of refreshing once you got used to it. So much fun!

Hiking Through the Rain Forest:
There was a cool tower on the trail that you could climb to see an elevated view of the rain forest. It was awesome to see the vastness and beauty of Puerto Rico! There were also some waterfalls along the trail. About the below picture of Chad being a dork...don't even ask! :)

You CRAZY kids!! haha! I love it!! Way to take advantage of Chad's flight benefits!!! Ah.. you're making me go back in time to my month long honeymoon in Puerto Rico! It's pretty Americanized over there... however, all the street signs are in spanish.. did Chad have to do some brushing up on his language skills?! haha! Didn't you LOVE the Bioluminescent bay? Russ had the in with one of the locals and we did our OWN kayaking tour.. needless to say Russ thought it would be funny while we were all secluded out there to tip over the boat and drop us in the water and make out! Cute, Romantic, and freak'n SCARY! WE did all the other things that you guys did too! I loved hiking through the rain forest! yay!! I love that you were able to do something fun and spontanious!
Miss you!

You two have become quite the traveler! It all looks like so much fun! Glad to see you are taking advantage of those flight benifits, because we sure didn't! But I guess it got us home twice for free so that makes it worth it, right!?
