Our Story

Welcome to our blog! Here's the quick and dirty about us:

Chad and I met on our first day of college at Utah State University. We started studying together, since we were in the same math class and lived in the same apartment building. But, those late-night study sessions quickly turned into excuses to hang out together. And that's how our story began. After two years of dating, we tied the knot on August 17, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We currently live in Tucson, Arizona. We moved here after living in South Florida for five years, where Chad graduated from medical school and completed his internship year of residency. He is now working for the University of Arizona completing a three-year anesthesiology residency. I was fortunate enough to keep my job from Florida and now work remotely from home. I am the manager of advertising and communications for the business school at Nova Southeastern University.

And--most importantly--Chad and I are thrilled to be parents! Our little angel Reece was born on Jan. 26, 2010 and our handsome little Jace was born on June 30, 2011. We are so blessed to be the mom and dad of such darling and sweet kids.

Reece Turns Two Years Old

Reece turned 2 years old on "janooary six!" (That's how Reece says January 26th). I can't even begin to tell you how fast these past two years have gone by. I cannot believe our baby girl (who Chad and I waited to get for sooo long) is already a full-blown 2-year-old! She is too big, too fun, and too cute (and just a little bit of trouble)! :) She had a great birthday. Below are some pictures and updates about Reece's big day!

Reece with her Minnie Mouse birthday cake! (Not too shabby for an amateur cake decorator...although it took me a lot longer than I imagined. Maybe I should take some cake decorating classes from Chad! lol!)

Meeshka...Mooshka...it's a Mickey Mouse Birthday party!

Here's Reece blowing some of the fun Mickey Mouse bubbles...pipe cleaners make amazing bubble blowers (just a little FYI).

Jace enjoying some of the yummy ice cream!

Reece and her boys! Reece has so much fun with all of her "buddies" and we were so glad they could all come to the party and celebrate with us! (L to R) Thomas, Owen, Reece, Ryde, Clark & Henry

The hit of the party was when Reece opened up her present from Grandma and Grandpa Knutson...a Minnie Mouse! She was so excited, and held onto her Minnie for the rest of the party...and basically ever since then, too! :)

I just thought this was too sweet...Reece gave Thomas a hug to say thanks for the pretty bows he gave her for her present!

Thanks for all the thoughtful birthday gifts and wishes that everyone gave to Reece on her big day. She was spoiled rotten...but deserved it! :) She is definitely our little princess and is growing up way too fast. We love her more and more everyday! Below are some fun facts about Reece as a 2-year-old...

  • Reece loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (in case you couldn't tell by her birthday theme!) She begs to watch it multiple times a day.

  • Her vocabulary is growing exponentially...she says new words/phrases every day. It's amazing how smart this little girl has become!

  • Reece knows all of her colors, and can count to 10 on her own (and to 20 with a little help!)

  • She still loves animals (especially dogs!)

  • She loves books! And recently discovered flash cards...it amazes me how much she knows! (Where does she learn all this stuff??)

  • She loves playing at the park, feeding the ducks, swinging, going down the slides...and her favorite is the monkey bars!

  • She loves to sing, and knows (almost) all the words to Row Row Row Your Boat, Jingle Bells, Hush Little Baby, Jesus Wants Me For a Sunbeam, Old McDonald Had a Farm, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Happy Birthday, and the list goes on.

  • Reece says "OK" instead of "Yes." For example, if you ask Reece "Did you have fun?" she says "OK!" Or, if you ask "Are you 2 years old?" she says "OK!" It's pretty cute! The girls at the gym daycare make a game out of it...they try to ask her as many questions as they can that will get an "OK" response! :)

  • Reece goes to her friend Owen's house everyday for daycare...and LOVES it! Kara (Owen's mom) watches her for me so I can work. It's a life saver for me, and Reece and Owen are best buds. Reece says "Owen my buddy!" all the time and asks to go to Owen's house every day.

  • She's is all girl! Reece loves to play pretend cooking. And actually, she loves to help me cook as well (cracking the eggs is her favorite!). She plays tea party, paints her toes, makes her daddy dance with her, carries her babies around and pushes them in their stroller, loves to wear make-up, likes bows and ponies in her hair, and is entering the princess stage (Tangled, Little Mermaid, Cinderella...she loves them all!)

  • Reece is a horrible eater! She will leave food in her mouth without swallowing it for hours! She drinks milk and loves anything sweet (especially donuts and cookies!), but meal times are tough! I try it all...bribery, threats, time outs, dessert, movies...and the girl eats only when she feels so inclined. Ugh..

  • Reece is INDEPENDENT! In her own words, "Reecey do it!" She knows what she wants, when she wants it, and doesn't want any help. I could go on...but I think you get the idea.

  • She is still a daddy's girl! Every morning when I get her out of her crib she says "Daddy at work, bummer!" And on the days he happens to be home I tell her "No, daddy's home today!" and she gets all giddy and squirmy with excitement.

  • Reece is still tall and skinny! At her 2 year check up, she weighed 26 pounds (50 percentile) and was in the 90 percentile for height.

wow! those 2 years sure did fly! I can't believe Abby will be 2 in just a few months.. it really is crazy how fast time starts to fly once you have children! Good job on her cute mini mouse cake! I love that all her little friends at the party were boys ;) I'm sorry she's not a great eater.. but happy to hear I'm not the only one dealing with a poor eater! At least Reece is still a good weight for her age.. she must be getting enough some how. Abby is in the 50% for a 9 months old.. the problem is that she's 18 (well, 19 now) months old.. so, not even on the charts.. which you can imagine the anxiety it causes for this momma when she doesn't eat well! ugh! Anyway, i can't wait to meet your adorable kids one day! Happy 2nd birthday Reece!

It is so funny to read about what Reece is up to since she sounds exactly like Anna. It is nice to know that she is not the only one that chews on food forever! One time I didn't even realize it but she had a mouthful of granola bar from 30 minutes earlier and decided to spit it out in the middle of the isle at church! Two year olds are sure an adventure!
